For their subsidiary in Shanghai, China, we are now exclusively searching for a Director Business Unit Medical & Packaging Asia (m/f/d). We are looking for candidates prepared to commit long-term and thus ensure sustainable growth of the business unit in the Asia / Pacific region. This exciting position offers a lot of creative leeway and enormous growth potential.

The position holder will report to the Vice President Business Unit Medical & Packaging located at the companies’ Headquarters in Europe.
 

These tasks await you:

  • Leading the Asia team of the business unit of currently four employees, all base in Shanghai
  • Realign all processes and activities of the business unit for an agile market penetration, strong growth in the region and a smooth order processing
  • Develop and implement a market strategy for the region in accordance with the global strategy of the business unit and the company; derive and implement individual country-specific strategy guidelines
  • Prepare and provide industry-specific information and market data to sales organizations in the region
  • Cooperate closely with the local sales organizations to support all sales and marketing activities such as customer visits, in-house events and trade fairs
  • Identify, manage and develop relationships with local subsidiaries of international key accounts and regional key accounts
  • Participate in customer meetings and conduct contract negotiations with important customers and for large-scale projects
  • Form and manage partnerships with suppliers of molds, automation equipment, local research institutes, industry associations and local government authorities
  • Provide technical and commercial support to local sales organizations for quoting of customized machine configurations and turnkey projects


 

These are your professional qualifications:

  • Engineering degree, ideally in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Plastics Technology, or equivalent experience
  • Strong background in developing market strategies, and in business development and/or international sales
  • Experience in management, preferably in an international environment
  • A sound understanding of complex, technical processes, machines and systems as a basis for consultation and technical clarification of customer requirements
  • Knowledge and experience in the plastics industry, in particular experience with injection molding machines or comparable machines, automation systems, injection molds or handling technology for plastic products are of advantage
  • Preferably, experience in medical device technology and/or packaging with a strong emphasis on injection molding and production technology.
  • A large network in plastic injection molding, toolmaking or automation technology and/ or in the relevant medical device technologies, or packaging industry in the region is desirable
  • Strong cross-cultural Skills with a with a feeling for the peculiarities of the different cultures in the Asia/ Pacific region
  • Experience in working for a European-based company
  • Business fluent English language skills, both written and spoken. Further language skills, especially Mandarin, are an advantage but not a must
